The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Direct

New Playable Characters

Updates From The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Direct!

Arguably, the most important part of any fighting game is its playable roster. This is taken to the extreme when it comes to the Super Smash Bros franchise. With so many fan-favorite Nintendo characters to choose from (not to mention the third party additions), it would be impossible to fit them all into one game. Knowing this, Nintendo has decided to included over 70 characters to choose from! And as of today, we now know exactly who will be available at release. During the Super Smash Bros Ultimate direct, it was revealed that there would be two more fighters available on day 1. Both Ken from the Street Fighter franchise and Incineroar from Pokemon Sun/Moon, will be the final additions to game.

But that’s not all! Piranha Plant from the many Super Mario Bros games will be joining the cast shortly after release. Along with five mystery DLC characters that have not been revealed by Nintendo yet. These five DLC characters are all set to release sometime in 2019. So don’t forget to bookmark Digital Addicts for more information on these characters heading into the new year.

New Adventure Mode “World of Light”

If you ever played Super Smash Bros Brawl on the Nintendo Wii, chances are you played The Subspace Emissary adventure mode. While not a direct sequel to the fan-favorite single-player mode, World of Light looks very similar to its predecessor in a number of ways. From the looks of things, you start out as everyone’s favorite pink ball, Kirby. You must then fight your way past the rest of the playable roster (presumably unlocking them as you go) along with various bosses, challenges, and mini-games as well. New Online Features, Assist Trophies, Items, Options & More!

There’s honestly so many great announcements that took place throughout the latest Nintendo Direct. Director Masahiro Sakurai did an excellent job describing the numerous additions made to the in-game items, stages, and online features. For example, Global Smash Power is a new online ranking system that shows you just how well you stack up against other online players. There’s even a specific ranking assigned to individual characters, so if you’re better with Mario than you are with Donkey Kong, your Global Smash Power will reflect that. Also, Nintendo has finally found out how to catch a cheater. So everyone who plays online will be in for a fair fight.
