Today marks the 30th anniversary of Pi Day! A special day dedicated to one of math’s most important and intricate numbers, 3.14 (π.) The first Pi Day celebration was founded in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw of the San Francisco Exploratorium. To celebrate, Shaw along with various other staff members and visitors, marched around a circular area while feasting on a variety of fruit pies. The San Francisco Exploratorium has since continued the celebration on each and every Pi Day.
