Fortnite Week 9 Challenges Arrive In New Update

Today, Fortnite Battle Royale moves one step closer to the end of season 3. And if you’ve been following the rumors, it seems as though season 3 might end with a big bang. That being said, we still have a few weeks to go before that happens. To hold us over, Epic Games has introduced another update for Fortnite Battle Royale.

When most developers update their games, it’s usually to fix minor issues or to catch a cheater. Epic Games on the other hand, updates Fortnite on a weekly basis. Bringing new items and balance changes to the game’s millions of players. In this week’s update, battle pass owners will be excited for a brand new set of challenges to complete. And with the season ending on April 30, battle pass owners only have two more weeks to achieve level 100 and unlock the prestigious John Wick “Reaper” outfit. Here’s a list of all the week 9 challenges available to battle pass owners.

Fortnite Week 9 Challenges

This week, battle pass owners will once again be given 7 new challenges to complete. Along with the usual challenges that we see from week to week, such as, follow the treasure map and eliminate opponents, this new set of challenges appears to focus on building. Both destroying opponents buildings as well as creating your own. And In a game that focuses so much on building, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. What is surprising though is the “visit different Taco Shops in a single match” challenge. Most of the time these locations are bypassed for more loot-heavy locations. However, because of this update, there’s finally a reason to visit the various taco shops around the map. The rest of the Fortnite week 9 challenges are as follows:

Fortnite Week 9 Challenges

  • Deal 5,000 damage to opponents structures
  • Open 7 chests in Haunted Hills
  • Build 250 structures
  • Visit 3 different Taco Shops in a single match
  • Follow the treasure map found in Moisty Mire
  • Eliminate 4 opponents with a shotgun
  • Eliminate 3 opponents in Lucky Landing

New In This Week’s Update

Aside from challenges, Epic Games has also introduced a new weapon into Fortnite Battle Royale, the Light Machine Gun. In-game, the weapon is described as having “a fast rate of fire, large magazine, and slow reload.” While this is certainly true, I would also add that the weapon is pretty inaccurate. Think Minigun without the necessary windup time. Because of this, the Light Machine Gun is probably best used for taking down enemy structures and cover. Another interesting thing about this weapon is it’s rarity. Typically when Epic Games introduces a new weapon into Fortnite, it comes as a Legendary drop. However, the new Light Machine Gun will be available in either Rare or Epic qualities. This is important because it greatly increases your chances of finding the weapon as the game progresses.

Last Chance For Free Back Bling

Fortnite Week 9 Challenges And More Arrive In New Update

If you tried playing Fortnite last Wednesday or Thursday, chances are you ran into some login issues. Fortnite developer Epic Games was forced to take down all their servers in order to perform “emergency maintenance”. The resulting downtime lasted for nearly 24 hours, sparking outrage among the games core players. In response to this unexpected downtime, Epic Games offered a sincere apology, along with a free cosmetic item. This freebie comes in the form of an epic-quality back bling labeled the “Rust Bucket.” If you haven’t already collected your “Rust Bucket” head on over to the in-game shop today. But you better hurry, as the backpack will no longer be available after today.
